Oh Happy Monday

Monday is sort of like ‘Me Day’ around these parts, mostly because aside from all of the shuttling of kids to and fro, I actually have the entire day to do whatever the heck I want to do.  That means anything.  The world is just a big happy freaking oyster for me on Monday with school in session!  And you know what?  I have no regrets whatsoever when the day is over and I’ve done one or more of the following:

  • Had a manicure and/or pedicure
  • Splurged by drinking multiple espressos
  • Downloaded a few songs on iTunes and danced around the house with my iPod
  • Caught up on email from family & friends
  • Called hubs at work just to harass him
  • Dinked around on the computer by posting on my blog/Plurk/Twitter/Facebook
  • Shopped online for something completely trivial and unnecessary

But then comes the afternoon and it’s time to pick up kids from school, feed the family, and carpool the orchestra-types to rehearsal where I get to catch up on reading material.  The best part is listening to Beethoven, Mozart & Vivaldi compositions as I read, which is really not a bad deal considering it’s like being backstage during a live concert.  Cool indeed.

So here are a couple of interesting ‘finds’ that I came across in reading some magazines last night, because everyone can use a few more things to make life interesting.  The first comes from Real Simple, October 2008, as a good website to help exercise your brain: Happy-neuron.com.  Next from the same mag is a pair of sweet looking Sigerson Morrison boots that I’ll be wearing this Fall.  And finally, here’s a must-listen-to audio book that sounded worthwhile in Health magazine called When You Are Engulfed in Flames. (Hubs said he wasn’t so sure about that one, but for whatever it’s worth, I’m throwing it out there as something ‘hilarious’ to check into.)

Who whould’ve thought Mondays would be so sweet?  And isn’t using Monday and sweet in the same sentence oxymoron-like?  Not anymore.  Off to exercise my brain a little.
