Playing Hooky

Upon returning home from teaching CCD a couple of days ago, I pretty much knew something wasn’t right in the nasal passages department of my head.  And guess what?  That trashcan full of snot-soaked Kleenexes over there tells me I was right in that thinking.  But really, being sick on a Friday really hasn’t been all that bad.  I mean, check out my list of accomplishments thus far:

  • Successfully dropped off both kids at school on time after a healthy breakfast of Toaster Strudel and chocolate milk. (Espresso and cereal for me, thanks very much.)
  • Sneezed my way over to Barnes & Noble to pick up an anxiously awaited book order.
  • Started up 4 loads of laundry. Um, yeah.
  • Camped out in the basement with the cat, laptop, cell phone, camera, iPod, Kleenex box, diet Pepsi, bottled water and cozy afghan – handmade with love for occasions such as these by my own sweet mom.
  • Decided I want this new hairdo (on right, not left) and made a mental note to print a picture for my hairstylist.

Yet somehow I think Smokie is taking this whole camp-out-business a little overboard:

Love the new ‘do. Can’t wait to see the after photo. And a sick day is always a good reason to go to Barnes and Noble. Hope you’re feeling better soon. I’ve had this cold for two weeks and I’m supposed to be over it soon. Yea, right!

Sick days are always good days to pamper one’s self. I hope that you are staying hydrated!

    Hugs,

@bigdogmompam – If only The Today Show would provide a side shot of that ‘do. I’m loving the cropped back but might not be able to describe it to Ruth, my stylist. Wish me luck.

Hope you’re doing the back-to-back 12 hour relief meds like me… breathing is a good thing, isn’t it? Hubs tells me I’m snoring. LOUDLY.

@maksbestfriend – So true, that which I am. 🙂 Hydrated? Can you say beeline-to-the-potty-every-hour? That’s me.

I saw that episode as I was in Chicago parked on a couch while Blondie was at work. That makeover was AMAZING! She looked like a completely different person, but I don’t remember the back of her hair. Just the front.

I totally empathize with the head-full-o-snot. I was fine until I went to Chi town for a weekend and encountered FREEZING cold and 5 inches of snow. That’s it until it’s warm up there. No more. It’s warm here more than it is cold now, so I’m staying put.

Hope you feel better. Sounds like you had the perfect sick-set-up!

@jayhawkfever – You saw it too? Did you see the look on her hub’s face? Total shock! Anyway, the back was chopped up in a really cool way. Might have to do a screen capture while viewing the episode online and print it off for my stylist. 😉

Enjoy Chicago w/Blondie! Oh how times have changed, haven’t they?

Hope you’re feeling better. The horrible cold lasted two weeks. I still have a nasty cough and it’s been three weeks. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 70 degrees. In Ohio. In March. No wonder we’re all sick.

@bigdogmompam – Thanks, and yes – FINALLY everyone is feeling better. The germs really took a toll on us. I hope you are well again and enjoying the spring-like temps. It’s like emerging from a dark tunnel to hear birds chirping, sun shining, etc.

    Where’s the beach? 😉
