Worker-Bee Peeps

Finally, the kids are in a regular ‘chore’ routine enough so that they’ve been earning a weekly allowance again. Not that they ever really earned an allowance before, as we had a tendency to hand out an occasional reward whenever the situation called for it. But going into summer, I knew that those sweet peeps were going to do some actual work on a weekly basis, rather than sit around playing video games and/or running around the house driving poor ‘ole incognito mom woman completely insane. Allowance money talks. And guess what? It’s the reason why Catholic Son’s Bionicle Lego collection is busting at the seams:

Nice Lego collection he has there. I just love those little guys. My youngest nephew has a fascination for all things Lego (he’s the same age as CS) so I know all about these things . . . wish I had them when I was that age! Hooray on the allowance thing. Now I understand why Mom didn’t like for us to lounge around the house all summer.

    P.S. Happy belated birthday ;0)

He needs another room to house all of those Bionicles! But really, it’s fun to watch him create adventures with those guys. And good to know CS isn’t the only kid out there collecting and enjoying them. 🙂 LEGO has changed so much since we were kids!

As for the allowance, they’re really getting a feel for earning/saving/spending money. CG isn’t interested in babysitting, so I figure this is a good way for both kids to earn some sort of income during the summer. Since eventually they’ll be working at jobs outside of the home, why not start with the easiest (?) boss of all time: MOM.

P.S. Happy belated birthday to YOU, TOO. I hope you were treated with serious pampered goodness all.day.long.

Don’t let on that you are the easiest boss of all, it might have its drawbacks for you…

The birthday celebration was fantastic – how many girls get fireworks for their birthday?!
