Fiddles on Fire Once Again

Today was all suck-it-up-and-forget-about-the-stinkin’-illness because YOUTH ORCHESTRA TIME IS HERE! That’s right. Remember the area-wide strings orchestra Catholic Girlie performed in last year? Well, she auditioned for another more advanced group last spring and was selected, sending us off and running to more rehearsals again this year.

Total ear candy all over again – gotta love that!

Ok, so giddiness took over just then. *cough* That’s what happens to a person blessed with musicians in the family – you just go completely silly about it. Or maybe the nasal spray is just messing with my head? Nah. This is serious talent, nasal spray or otherwise. Stay tuned for more music posts!

Cat-and-Mouse Business

Stormy weather kept me inside going all crazy updating calendars, completing registration forms, rolling over files from previous school years, etc. etc. So yes, the bad weather really was a blessing-in-disguise for getting things done before the new school year starts… ON WEDNESDAY.
Of this upcoming week.
Sill in shock.
I know.
Anyway, Smokie had ideas of her own while all of this work was taking place in the Catholic Homestead:

Home Sweet Home

Well… we made it back home, but not without a few hitches along the way. First, Hub’s suitcase detoured to Rapid City, SD instead of following the rest of our luggage. Straggler. Second, as a result of our lateness in leaving the airport, we were too late in rescuing Smokie from her posh Pet Hotel, meaning she was forced to stay yet another night partying it up with her feline diva friends. Otherwise all went extremely smooth, and we’re happily shaking off the sand that hitched a ride home in our duds. Seashells, souvenirs, memories, and all.

Another childhood dream fulfilled. *yay!* 😀 (The adults thought it was pretty dreamy, too.)

Mine, Thanks Very Much

There’s nothing more annoying than finding cat fur on your pillow at night, exactly what Catholic Girlie will be experiencing upon going to bed this evening. Why? Well, Smokie has decided to commandeer her pillow for nap-time purposes. Another indication that our cat owns us, rather than the opposite:

Drawer Invasion

Surprises seem to jump out at us just about everywhere in the Catholic Homestead, dresser drawers included. Don’t ask how she got herself up there – we haven’t got a clue:

Gnashing of Teeth

Where in the world has this whole Sunday gone anyway? Oh yes, now I remember. After a late night of celebrating Independence Day, the Catholic Peeps and I woke up to Hubs’ Famous Breakfast Smörgåsbord of Belgian waffles (kids), bacon (girlie & me), veggie omelet (hubs & me) and english muffin (hubs). Then we spent the rest of the morning watching Federer beat squeak past a local favorite, Roddick, at Wimbledon. Last and probably least, the four of us enjoyed a relaxing frustrating afternoon at the pool, where we dodged 4-letter words tossed around the deep-end area by a slew of teens who received no less than 3 verbal warnings and scathing looks from nearby adults attempting to sunbathe peacefully beside the pool. *Ugh.*

Reminds me of a song, “Every party has a pooper that’s why we invited you…” (From movie: Father of the Bride)
