Water Park to the Max

On our first full day at the lodge, we woke up before 7 am and hubs so kindly wandered down the hall and found me a cuppa dark roast Starbucks coffee. Not espresso – but dude, STARBUCKS.

Headed straight down to the water park after snarfing down a blueberry bagel w/cream cheese, CKs muffins and juice, and hubs a bowl of cereal with the milk Wiley so kindly left the night before. All loaded up and ready to take on the water slides! *woohoo!*

Grabbed our inner-tubes and hit every. single. slide. (At least twice, including the body slides which didn’t require tubes, just skin.) To top it off, we even stood under the giant Great Wolf Lodge water bucket where thousands of gallons of water dropped on our heads, then we floated along in the Lazy River where we were anything but lazy. Finally, we headed outside to enjoy some rays and a game of water basketball, but found clouds, a cool breeze and goosebumps in the 74 degree-ish temps. Ah well, back later after the clouds broke and we found ourselves some rays and I attempted to even out my lopsided tan.

Back to the room for lunch in our suite: me Lean Cuisine, CG EZ mac & cheese, CS Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles lunch, hubs sandwich & chips on our balcony. Soon enough we zipped back over to the water park before CS could get too wrapped up in the Sponge Bob Squarepants marathon on cable, where we wore ourselves out to the point of hungry exhaustion, then showered up at the room before taking our empty stomachs over to Camp Critter. A bowl of French Onion soup and a turkey sandwich did the trick for me, and the Catholic Family & I enjoyed a peaceful dinner under the indoor tent and tree-like setting of the restaurant.

Next we finished decoratingthe CK’s t-shirt crafts at the Cub Club, which made some seriously cool custom souvenirs. The Northern Lights Arcade beckoned us over for some game playing & ticket redeeming, with Catholic Girlie walking away with white fuzzy dice & 3 Tootsie Rolls and Catholic Son a wolf figurine. Then lastly, we shut the water park down, slipping down the water slides a few more times for the evening and playing a 2-on-2 game of water basketball at the outdoor pool.

Final score: Me & Hubs, 13, Catholic Kids 15.
Motto of the game: “White Moms Can’t Shoot”

Crazy Groupie Day

Crazy mixed up day today complete with kids’ basketball camp and pottery class starting simultaneously, which had me racing across town in opposite directions as I attempted to get people where they needed to be ON TIME. Having a traffic light down at a major intersection did not help, thanks very much. Energizer Bunny Incognito Catholic Mom was in rare form today, let me tell you. *Zzzzzzzzing*

Picking up my sweet campers went better than the drop off, as the camps ended 30 minutes apart giving me time to breathe easy between trips. But the running was not over, because Mr. George awaited CS for baritone lessons, and who were we to skip out on Mr. George? Thankfully we made it perfectly on time, then CG and I sat in on the lesson enjoying a few laughs in the process.

Get this – Mr. G’s been giving us updates on the romance he’s been having with his girlfriend… she’s having her gall bladder out this afternoon, thank goodness, because last week she was in so much pain it was like labor & delivery for her. We’re so relieved to know this.

Anyway, back at home we warmed up leftovers: my famous Cincinnati Chili & Catholic Hubs’ Chicken Gumbo Burgers for dinner, and then made plans for the rest of the evening: client work for me and tennis practice for the CK’s. So after cleanup time, I took care of my business peeps while Hubs trekked the kids over to the local tennis court. Time. Flew. Then I found myself pulling out tax files to reconcile unpaid invoices while the CK’s readied themselves for bed. Reading time, blogging some, and now off to watch that Netflix DVD we discovered in our mailbox today, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Now if I can only pull a certain man of mine away from the Lakers/Magic game. Wait, actually… he might be pulling ME away this time around. Scary, I’m becoming all NBA groupie-ish.

Warm Fuzzies Needed

Another early start to the day for so many reasons, the first being a trip to Target to buy another Wii controller & nunchuk, an industrial sized box of Bagel Bites, some frozen spinach/cheese Savorings, and a bottle of Mop & Glo floor cleaner. This was an important errand, as noted by the types of things we bought. Um, yeah. Then after dropping the perishable items off at the home freezer, we took ourselves over to the Catholic Kids’ tennis lesson where they learned new tennis-playing skills completely froze their rear-ends off – it was 60 degrees with 50 mph winds!

Let’s just say I completely felt their pain while watching from the car all nestled in the parking lot. 😉

As the day continued, the CK’s and I found ourselves racing frantically from our home-cooked lunch at home to the Catholic Son’s basketball camp where it was All. Dude. Time. No more hitting balls around the court with a bunch of left-handed guys and girlie-girls. This was the big-time, guy-camp-style, with balls flying every which direction. So what were CG and I to do with all of this testosterone cramping our style? Go back home and chill for an hour, with reading and web surfing at the top of our lists!

Precisely when 2 clients decided to make contact w/me. *sigh* Ah, the life of a business owner in charge of kids’ summer activities.

No complaints, no complaints.
